An Index of Reports of Inspections Issued to Retirement Homes in Ontario (2012-2020)

On May 14, 2020, we released a consolidated database of 766 Retirement Homes in Ontario. Today we’re supplementing this database with an Index to Inspection Reports issued for these Retirement Homes between September 2012 and April 2020.

Primary Source

Our primary source was the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority website.

Methods

As noted in our May 14, 2020 posting, the source code for results using the website’s Search API included links to Profiles and Inspection Findings for every Retirement Home. We used these links to automate a process for accessing the Inspection Findings.

Final Results

Our consolidated database profiled 766 Retirement Homes currently licensed to operate in Ontario. As a further assistance to researchers, we have compiled an Index to Reports of Inspections Issued to these Retirement Homes between September 2012 – April 2020. The Index is described in Table 1 and is made available as a CSV file or Excel spreadsheet.

Field	Definition
MOH_PRO_ID*	A unique identifier assigned to an MOH service provider.
NAME	English name of the LTC Home service provider.
_INSPECTION_DATE*
_INSPECTION_TYPE_ID	The vast majority of Inspection Reports are simply titled “Final Inspection Report” with an identifier for the Retirement Home attached.
